L is for Laser Quest!

Running around in the dark firing lasers at people was how I spent 15 minutes of my life one Saturday afternoon. And even though I was rubbish, kept running into walls, and couldn’t shoot straight I really enjoyed it!

The last time I went to laser quest was at University, where predictably I came last. Keen to try and redeem myself, and do something fun for Faye’s birthday I got together with a group of friends and headed to laser quest in Gloucester.

I knew I was in for a fun (cough) time when we were ushered in to watch the training video, which consisted of a floating, evil looking head telling me how to shoot, and to watch out for things on the wall that would get me! Having not really listened I put on my pack (the wrong way round at first) and was shoved into a dark room with a maze of corridors.

At first we didn’t know what team we were on, as the lights on our front (which would either be blue or red) hadn’t come on. Figuring I would do well if I stayed with Faye I followed her and two other friends Rach and Emma. This was my first mistake as backed into in a small dark room with them our lights came one - mine was red while the other three were blue! Cue me being shot at point blank range numerous times before I managed to run away (hitting the wall as I went!)

Much to my despair the one person I wanted to shoot (Joe) was on my team. So I ended up aimlessly running round trying to figure out how my gun worked (I knew I should have listened to the scary floating head!)

The 15 minutes flashed by in a haze of light and confusion, but one memorable part was standing aimlessly on the upper level. Here I was shot by Faye numerous times, but I couldn’t figure out how, as she was nowhere to be seen! It was only afterwards that she told me I had been standing on a metal grate - a prime target for everyone below! I was also easily seen as foolishly I had opted for a white top - which glowed like a neon beacon in the lights!

I ended the game with a lously score of 65. Considering the next lowest score was 250 I lost by a lot! But it was great fun, and I highly reccomend it! Just don’t wear white, and listen to the scary floating head!
